Ride to the Bennington Battle Monument in Bennington, VT

"A Vermont owned State Historic Site, the Bennington Battle Monument is 306 feet 4 and 1/2 inches tall and was completed and dedicated in 1891. It is constructed from blue-grey magnesium limestone.

The Monument was built to commemorate the Battle of Bennington which occurred on August 16, 1777. This battle lead up to the battle of Saratoga where General Burgoyne’s weakened army was defeated. This is considered to be the turning point in the Revolutionary War."

This will be an all-day ride on scenic back roads to this quintessential New England town, with a lunch stop nearby.
